With it, we&#8217;re accelerating one of the pilots we&#8217;re building within SafeRoute-6G, the European R&amp;D project researching the safer, more connected, smarter mobility of the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Aunoa, we&#8217;ve spent months turning urban infrastructure into smart observation points for mobility. This new equipment lets us take the next step: putting Infineon&#8217;s PSOC\u2122 Edge E84 platform and LMT IoT&#8217;s LPWAN connectivity through their paces to build a new generation of smart nodes \u2014 more energy-efficient, more autonomous, and ready for real urban deployments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the Cellular Edge AI Mentorship program?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Cellular Edge AI Mentorship is a joint initiative from Infineon Technologies and LMT IoT designed to accelerate the development of IoT solutions that combine Edge Artificial Intelligence (Edge AI) with low-power cellular connectivity. The program selects companies with innovative projects and gives them direct technical guidance, plus the hardware needed to move from concept to working prototype. Taking part gives us access to both companies&#8217; technical teams and to a development kit built specifically to accelerate connected-mobility use cases like ours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The kit powering our pilot: PSOC\u2122 Edge E84 and LPWAN connectivity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The kit we received combines two key pieces. First, Infineon&#8217;s <strong>PSOC\u2122 Edge E84<\/strong> platform, a dual-core microcontroller (an Arm\u00ae Cortex\u00ae-M55 running at up to 400 MHz with Helium support, plus an Arm\u00ae Cortex\u00ae-M33 at up to 200 MHz) built to run machine learning models directly on the device, with an Ethos-U55 NPU and a low-power NNLite accelerator, backed by the DEEPCRAFT\u2122 Edge AI software stack. Second, <strong>LMT IoT&#8217;s LPWAN connectivity<\/strong>, which transmits data at minimal power draw even in areas with limited coverage. The project runs from November 2024 to April 2028, with a combined budget of more than \u20ac7.2 million, and aims to harness technologies such as 5G-Advanced, 6G, hybrid networks, artificial intelligence, Edge Computing, and Digital Twins to improve road safety, traffic management, and the mobility services of the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;re the only Spanish company in the consortium. We lead the work package for collecting data at 12 test sites across different countries, develop our own AI algorithms, and validate our technology in three cybersecurity-focused pilots. Our goal is to turn existing urban infrastructure into smart observation points capable of understanding mobility flows in real time. Thanks to Edge AI, all the processing happens directly on the device: we don&#8217;t send video or raw data to the cloud, only information that&#8217;s already processed and anonymized.
